What Elderly Waiver (EW) covers

The Elderly Waiver pays for services — not room and board. DHS states plainly that "you are responsible for paying the costs of room and board" in an assisted living setting, so ask every provider for those two numbers separately. Not every assisted living facility accepts Elderly Waiver residents, and some cap how many they serve.

Eligibility is decided by a MnCHOICES assessment at your county or Tribal lead agency, not by a provider and not by this directory. Free statewide help: Disability Hub MN on 1-866-333-2466 for people under 65, Minnesota Aging Pathways on 1-800-333-2433 for 65 and over.
